Since its inception in 1979 as Brunswick Technical College, Brunswick Community College in Bolivia, North Carolina has been preparing students for transfer to a four-year university, via various associate’s degrees and diploma-based academic programs. Students can specialize in nursing assistance, phlebotomy, or practical nursing via BCC’s Allied Health division, or prepare for a career in education, criminal justice, social work or journalism, among many other possibilities, in the Arts & Sciences division. BCC also offers online and hybrid coursework, using a popular platform called Moodle. Further, Brunswick’s Academic Center for Excellence provides free tutoring, study assistance and computer access five days a week. But there’s more here than just academics; students enjoy a near-constant stream of opportunities to become involved, including a crocheting club, performing arts troupes, athletics (go Dolphins!), an HIT club and the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. Fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, BCC also provides financial aid assistance and gives back to surrounding communities by hosting special events like the Youth Explorations for Summer (YES) Camps.
