Established in 1855, Kean University is a public university located in Union, New Jersey. The college has a branch campus in Hillside and Toms River, NJ. It is the third largest institution of higher education in New Jersey. KU offer bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees, in a wide range of fields – the college is well known for its courses in education, graduating the most number of teachers in the state of New Jersey annually. Special emphasis is placed on research, with the New Jersey Center for Science, Technology and Mathematics (NJ STEM), and the Kean University Holocaust Recourse Center all situated on campus. The student community is both massive, and largely diverse, with a strength of more than 18,000. Students can join one of the numerous social fraternities on campus (the country’s first Latin fraternity, Lambda Theta Phi, was founded here!), contribute to the campus radio or the student newspaper ‘The Tower’, or join the drama and theatrical ensembles. Those at Kean many choices to unwind – attend a theatrical performance by the Premiere Stages, relax at one of the three Starbucks on campus, or simply hop on a train to New York, just a half hour away!
