One of the largest schools of its kind, Mission College in Santa Clara, California serves over 10,000 students and was founded in 1967. Its intense focus on transfer programs is complemented by its status as host of the Bay Area’s largest annual college fair, which attracts over 180 colleges and universities from across the nation and the world. Its Associate of Science degrees and professional certifications in fire technology, hospitality management, and vocational nursing are just a sampling of the dozens of programs available. Students enjoy close proximity to the Silicon Valley’s “Golden Triangle” business district and the brand-new Gillmor Family Center, packed chock-full with modern classrooms and laboratory technology. Mission College also offers digital access to coursework via a special portal called ANGEL Learning, and its library holds a large and comprehensive Asian American collection (over a third of current enrollees identify themselves as Asian.) On-campus organizations include several culture-specific clubs as well as a dance troupe and “The Florets,” designed to educate members about “good floral practices.” So stop to smell the roses, but not for too long, or the excellent educational opportunities at Mission College might pass you by!
