Fairfield, Connecticut is home to Sacred Heart University, which serves over 7,000 students and is the second largest Roman Catholic university in New England, behind only Boston College. Driven by five core values, Sacred Heart emphasizes commitment to excellence, the pursuit of truth in all things, and recognition of the worth of every human being. It is in the process of a major expansion, and just within the last few years has both opened a new wellness center and broken ground on new dormitories and learning centers. While young (initiated in 2009), Sacred Heart’s theatre program has already become immensely popular, and even features an entirely student-written, student-produced annual festival called Theatrefest. Study-abroad opportunities include unique programs in Ireland and Luxembourg, but there’s plenty to do at home in the U.S., too: SHU sponsors two dozen club sports and is home to ten Greek chapters. And who knew college could be so funny? Comedic actors Kevin Nealon and John Ratzenberger both call SHU their alma mater! For a unique spiritual journey and education that lasts a lifetime, head northeast, to Sacred Heart University!
