Sonoma State University is a public comprehensive university at Rohnert Park, located right in the middle of wine country, California. It was established in 1961 as part of the California State University system. It has over 8,400 undergraduates, and the benefit of small class sizes and a tight knit community. SSU is known for its fabulous housing, with a choice between dorms, apartment-style and townhouse housing named after different types of grapes! It has its own Wine Business Institute, devoted exclusively to the business of wine. The university is also committed to sustainability, with its wilderness preserve. There’s a lot to do on campus, whether it’s cheering on the Seawolves during sports games, getting involved in its community service initiatives or being a part of its free campus movie nights. Notable alumni include Laurie MacDonald, production executive of DreamWorks and Nancy Silverton, chef, baker & author.
