Southern Connecticut State University is a public university founded in 1893, in New Haven, Connecticut. This makes it the third oldest college that is a member of the Connecticut State University System. The college offers bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees, with psychology, liberal arts/sciences, and nursing among the most popular majors. The college has a short term and long term study abroad program, with students having the choice to opt for countries in Europe, Asia, and Africa. It is a large university, with about 12,000 students, most of whom are daily commuters. Student activities include athletics, student organisations & clubs, one of the several student-run publications and media stations, Greek life, and theatre. The campus’s is located close to Westville Village, known for its historical sites and artsy vibe, where students often head for a day of exploration.
