The University of Texas at Austin is a “public ivy” research university located in Austin, Texas. It was established in 1883 and has over 35,000 undergraduates. It has a huge 40-acre campus which includes the Tower, an awe-spiring landmark that lights up during special occasions. The vibrant and hip city of Austin serves as the perfect backdrop to the university, with its thriving nightlife and city haunts. Longhorns are given every opportunity to cheer and bleed burnt orange. The university is brilliant at athletics, having won national championships in football, baseball and volleyball! It has a diverse and friendly atmosphere where resources are plenty, and there are a wide range of opportunities and extra curriculars. Notable alumni include Matthew McConaughey, who can still be seen at Texas games and novelist J. M. Coetzee.
