The shows! The lights! The education! (“Really?” you ask.) Yes, really! The University of Nevada at Las Vegas (UNLV), found in the suburb of Paradise, Nevada just over a mile and a half from the Vegas Strip, attracts over 28,000 students each academic term for more than just the entertainment value. Housing Nevada’s only dental school and law school, UNLV offers 220 programs of study in all; its 332-acre main campus contains four residence hall complexes and over 30 Greek chapters. The knowledgeable faculty has recently been responsible for such exhibits as “Aesthetic Evidence: Place, Context and Process in the Southwest” (associate professor Julian Kilker) and been honored by the White House for furthering computer science education (professor Andreas Stefik.) Further, UNLV’s athletics are also world-renowned; teams in 17 different sports compete here in Division I of the NCAA, and its nine club sports include such specialties as boxing, bowling and women’s lacrosse. So come on, join the crowd in a "city that never sleeps:" be a UNLV Rebel!
