University of Pennsylvania is a private Ivy League university located in Philadelphia. It was founded in 1740 by none other than Benjamin Franklin, and has around 10,000 undergrads every year. It has been called the America’s first University, and is often referred to as the Social Ivy. One of the distinctive features of UPenn is its life-sized modern art sculpture, called The Button in front of the Van Pelt Library. Another is the Wharton School of Business, which UPenn is renowned for. Greek life is strong here, as are university events such as Spring Fling and Hey Day. There are late night pizza places to keep you company during all nighters and plenty of downtown parties. The surrounding city has a charm of its own. Rittenhouse Square is one of the many places where you can cross a ton of things off your shopping list. The university has business magnates like Warren Buffett among its alumni along with Grammy winner John Legend. It’s a great place to forge connections and memories for the rest of your life.
