University of South Florida at St. Petersburg, founded in 1965, is the St. Petersburg campus of the University of South Florida system. It enrolls approximately 4,000 undergraduates, and has a gorgeous waterfront campus. It has small class sizes, encourages engagement with the local community, and is known for its journalism, media studies, entrepreneurship & biology programs. Its students can write for student-run The Crow’s Nest, participate in its numerous student organizations or run for student government. The Bulls have a fantastic sailing team; among the top 30 in the nation. Prominent faculty at the St. Petersburg campus include Raymond Arsenault, historian & author of Freedom Riders and Gary Mormino, co-director of the Florida Studies program.
