West Virginia University is a public research university with over 29,000 undergraduates. It was established in 1867 at Morgantown, West Virginia. It’s a mountaintop university with a large and spirited student body. With nearly 20 WVU Division I NCAA sports teams, there’s no shortage of games to attend. The school also offers plenty of student activities ranging from Greek life, student government to social service. It has a great student recreation center, an amazing social scene and multiple libraries. Commuting is never an issue, with the school’s PRT or monorail, bus system and student shuttles. The university is minutes away from a quiet afternoon at Cheat Lake and a decision away from outdoor activities like fishing, hunting, rock climbing and cave exploration! It’s also only a short drive away from major cities such as Pittsburgh, Cleveland and Washington. Actors Steve Harvey and Taylor Kinney are some of its notable alumni. WVU is a big school in a small city; a big family in one of the nation’s best college towns.
