Founded in 1971 as the Delaware Law School, Widener University has since expanded to a second location in Harrrisburg, Pennsylvania, which serves almost 400 students in total. One of Widener’s two School of Law campuses is found here, and the School’s coursework emphasizes in-court experience by offering the opportunity for students to work on actual cases through legal clinics. Widener-Harrisburg’s law-related degree options range from a simple J.D. doctorate to dual-degree tracks that are coordinated with other regional universities, such as the University of Delaware’s Master of Marine Policy track. This campus also serves graduate students from the university’s School of Nursing and its Center for Social Work Education. Furthermore, Widener is known for its quality faculty, which until 2008 included Joe Biden, after which he became Vice President of the United States! And to de-stress, students simply ride over to nearby Philadelphia to experience the nightlife, or work out at the on-campus wellness center. After all, Widener’s motto translates to “A sound mind in a sound body;” it consistently produces well-rounded, model citizens that are well-prepared to uphold the law.
