3 Quick Tips For The Perfect Email

Here at WayUp, we send thousands of emails to college students each week. In turn, we receive thousands of responses back. Here are some quick tips to make sure you leave a great impression, and get your point across!

Tip 1: If there are multiple people on the chain, “reply all”.

Unless someone indicates you should reply directly to them, the information on the chain is most likely relevant to all parties, not just you. You can change your email settings to automatically reply all to avoid making this mistake.

Tip 2: Be actionable.

Ask yourself, is this email necessary to write? Will I moving the needle by writing this email? For example, if someone asks to meet, you should follow up with times that work, not just a response saying “sounds great!.” No one likes a flooded inbox full of nothing.

Tip 3: Respond quickly.

Remember, haste makes wastes, so think through each email you send, but responding in a timely manner is important. When you sit on an email, you are blocking further action. Set aside time each day or night to respond to emails so you don’t forget.
