Our History: Cameron Elementary has served the local Cameron community since the founding of Fairfax County Public Schools. The first Cameron School was a one-room schoolhouse that opened shortly after the founding of FCPS in 1870. In 1892 a new Cameron school opened near the intersection of Telegraph Road and Franconia Road, close to where the current location remains. In 1952 the Cameron Elementary school we know and love today opened.
Fun fact: It was originally named Happy Valley Elementary, however, School Board members decided to change the name in 1953.
