About this role

The Data Engineer Intern will work as part of a team to maintain and develop optimal data pipelines for extraction, loading, and transformation of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and AWS 'big data' technologies. They will work with cross-functional teams in an Agile/Scrum environment to ensure a quality product is delivered.

Responsibilities:

• Will work as part of a team to maintain and develop data pipeline solutions, including building new data ingestion process to data lake.

• Ingest and Process data from various sources in raw, structured, semi-structured, and unstructured format into Big Data ecosystem.

• Implement and optimize data transformation processes in Big Data ecosystem

• Must be able to understand and develop data ingest and extract strategies

• Must be able to communicate ideas and analysis results effectively both verbally and in writing

Qualifications

What your background looks like:

• Currently enrolled in a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or related degree

• Be returning to school in the Fall of 2023 to complete degree program

• Ability to execute complex data extraction and ETL projects

• Ability to ingest data into large, complex data lake using programming, SQL and ETL tools

• Understands software development principles and operations

• Experience in Python, PySpark, SQL, and knowledge of other computer languages

• Excellent one-on-one communication and presentation skills, specifically able to convey technical information in a clear and unambiguous manner 

• Experience with Hadoop systems preferred
