  • Responsibilities

    YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

    As a STRUCTURES ENGINEER working for John Deere Construction and Forestry Division located in Dubuque, IA you will actively participate as needed to support PDP activities.  In addition, you will:

    • Develop design concepts, evaluate designs through peer review/Pugh/Decision Analysis, collaborate and optimize with other functional areas on designs, create engineering models and drawings using Pro-Engineer with appropriate GD&T and John Deere standards
    • All design work will be done within a multi-discipline team that has a goal of improving quality, lower cost, manufacturability and service access
    • Collaborate with Davenport fabrication on Davenport made Motor Grader fabrications issue resolution and process improvements
    • Develop and maintain structure and sheet metal design guidelines
    • Support Motor Grader structures PV&V activities
    • Interact with customers via Customer Advocate Groups (CAG) and potential customer visits

  • Qualifications

    WHAT SKILLS YOU NEED

    • Experience with engineering principles and ability to independently use knowledge
    • Engineering experience obtained from projects, internships or practical work experience
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Experience with 3D modeling software such as Pro E
    • Experience working with cross-functional projects/teams
    • Experience with analytical data visualization, data analysis, simulation and/or modeling tools

    WHAT MAKES YOU STAND OUT

    • Knowledge of sheet metal component design and the design of related componentry such as hardware, tanks, latches, and hinges
    • Knowledge of composite or plastic component design, additive manufacturing, casting design
    • Knowledge of Off Highway Construction Equipment
    • Knowledge of motor grader machine form & competitive machines

    EDUCATION (OR EQUIVALENT WORK EXPERIENCE)

    Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or equivalent experience.
