WORK ENVIRONMENT: Engineer will work in an office environment with some work being accomplished at aircraft/component maintenance facilities and other locations as required to support project activity and hands-on interface with aircraft/shop maintenance technicians.
JOB SUMMARY: The Avionics/Systems Engineer is a position within the UPS Airlines Aircraft Maintenance & Engineering organization. The position provides avionics and systems engineering support for A300, MD-11, 747, 757 and 767 cargo aircraft and associated components. Additionally the engineer provides project management oversight for aircraft/component repairs/modifications including reliability improvements, cost reduction and regulatory compliance.
JOB DESCRIPTION: The Aircraft/Systems Engineer position requires experience in aircraft avionic and mechanical systems, federal regulations, development of repairs/modifications, project planning and project management. Responsibilities include, but not limited to, aircraft/component configuration management, certification approvals, airworthiness directives, data analysis, project development and implementation and oversight of aircraft/component reliability solutions, repairs and modifications. Ideal candidates for the position will possess the following skills: electrical aptitude, hands-on approach to projects, project management and ability to multitask.
REQUIRED SKILLS: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology is required. Preferable engineering disciplines: Mechanical, Aeronautical or Electrical. Three (3) years’ of aviation industry related engineering experience (preferred). Applicant should have computer skills including office and CAD software and the aptitude for hands-on projects.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS: Working knowledge of FAA regulations associated with aircraft avionics and systems installations, component and repairs/alterations.
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Applicant should possess strong verbal and written communication skills, demonstrate a positive attitude and have the ability to work well with others in a team environment.
TESTING REQUIREMENTS: The applicant will be tested in accordance with 14 CFR Part 120.107(5) Sub Part E to determine the presence of marijuana, cocaine, opiates (including codeine, heroin-6AM, morphine), phencyclidine (PCP), and amphetamines/methamphetamines (including MDMA, MDEA, MDA) or metabolites of these drugs.
