JOB SUMMARY

The ORION (On Road Integrated Optimization and Navigation) Support Specialist will be working with a team responsible for mapping delivery routes for maximum optimization. The specialist will use computer applications that will access and plot delivery information. With the entire ORION team, the specialist will validate and edit the mapping data and information.

The ORION Support Specialist conducts audits on deployed driver groups to ensure continued system usage and continued route delivery efficiency. He/She uses UPS proprietary mapping and optimization software to edit map data. This position maintains the project timeline for the planned deployment of each workgroup to avoid delays in the overall deployment.

JOB DUTIES

• Generates reports to satisfy inquiries from route specific statistics to overall deployment status.
• Prepares periodic communications to update Region and District Management on the project results. 
• Updates project timeline based on deployment activities to provide corporate-wide visibility to overall deployment progress.
• Highlights discrepancies in scheduled tasks to trigger corrective measures in order to maintain the overall timeline.
• Drives only a UPS rented a rental car while another team member is physically verifying map data and other output. The ORION Support Specialist shall not use a personal vehicle or a vehicle provided by a party other than UPS.

• Demonstrates basic knowledge of database design principles; identifies users’ requirements and needs with guidance from others; demonstrates a basic understanding of the importance of maintaining and updating databases.
• Captures/documents specific and accurate information; learns subjects thoroughly and in detail; completes work with thoroughness; supplies appropriate details when requested; maintains organized files.
• Possesses ability to generate simple reports using basic functions in software, and/or writing basic queries; identifies information required to complete reports and identifies existing reports generated by others.
