    WORK ENVIRONMENT:  A professional office environment with members of a team. Business casual attire. The position has contact with all levels of management.

    JOB SUMMARY:  The F&A Process Improvement Co-op works with Analysts in the department to document and analyze critical Finance and Accounting processes.  The Intern will work in conjunction with Analysts to identify potential process improvements and make recommendations based on best practices to improve effectiveness and regulatory compliance, including GAAP and Segregation of Duties. The Intern will be involved in devising potential solutions and creating a project approach for the accepted improvements. The Intern may also work directly with other functions in F&A or in Information Technology (IT) while designing and building these solutions. The Intern may also assist in supporting existing applications or in testing software upgrades.

    JOB DESCRIPTION:  The F&A PI Co-op assists employees with hardware and software issues, troubleshoots current applications, isolates errors, and take corrective action to resolve issues. Additional responsibilities include identifying and implementing process improvements working with analysts, users and project sponsors to complete necessary tasks. The position involves maintaining and enhancing current technologies and staying current on new and existing technologies. The Co-Op will assist in leading process changes including development of project plans, design and implementation of communication plans, follow up with customers and resources and preparing cost-benefit analysis to determine application feasibility.

    REQUIRED SKILLS:

    • Actively pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Computer Science, or a related field.
    • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office - Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Technical aptitude and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
    • Sound analysis skills; An understanding of project management fundamentals is preferred.
    • Self-motivated, with the ability to manage multiple tasks successfully while meeting deadlines.

    ADDITIONAL SKILLS:

    • Data Modeling - Beginner
    • SharePoint - Beginner
    • Technical knowledge of hardware & software - Beginner
    • Knowledge of Oracle/SQL (or other database) programming language.

    INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:  The successful candidate will be goal and detail oriented, resourceful with an interest in problem solving, focused on customer service and a team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills.      

    ADDITIONAL NOTES:  Preferred candidate will be working on or will have recently completed an Accounting or Finance bachelor's degree along with strong CIS skills.
