2026 Writing Entry-level Jobs in Connecticut

If you’d like to spend your days with a pen in hand, or, as is more likely the case these days, with your fingers poised over a keyboard, entry-level jobs in writing are probably a good fit for you. If you’re a creative person or at least one who knows how to perform research and to put that research into words, you could become a writer. While most people think of novels and stories when they think of writers, there are also writers who create newspaper copy, who write screenplays and stage plays, who write advertisements and commercials, and so much more. Individuals with true jobs in writing—who are employed as full-time or part-time writers and authors—bring home an average yearly salary of $55,420 per year. Of course, those best-selling authors and those who write for major publications have the potential to make a whole lot more. Not all writing entry-level jobs are focused on creativity, however. If you’re good at taking complicated information and at breaking it down in such a way so that it’s easy to understand, why not become a technical writer? Just by penning instruction manuals, guidebooks, and the like, you could earn a nice $63,280 per year or more. There are other opportunities when it comes to writing jobs; some of these jobs, in fact, don’t even require actual writing! You could become an editor who proofreads the work of others, a publishing agent, a manager at a publication firm, or anything else that catapults you into the writing world. No matter which career you choose, it’s sure to be exciting!
