2026 Internships in Texas

Think of Texas, and you think of barbecue and Tex-Mex cuisine, cattle wranglers smoking Marlboros, and the boom of cotton and oil industries. The Lone Star State has outgrown its cowboy days, but as far as Texas internships go, the “get ‘er done” mentality still stands. Texas interns can choose from several major metropolitan areas dotting a diverse landscape that segues from Southwestern deserts to coastal swamps to piney woods. The Dallas and Forth Worth area sits on the intersection of four major highways, making the city a formidable economic, cultural, and sports hub. The coastal port city of Houston, meanwhile, boasts both the Texas Medical Center and NASA’s Johnson Space Center, making the city a great place for internships in energy, manufacturing, aeronautics, and transportation. State capital Austin is famous for its eclecticism and flourishing arts culture; “Keep Austin Weird!” urges the city slogan. Located in Texas’s beautiful hill country, Austin hosts the music festival Austin City Limits and the film, music, and technology festival South by Southwest. Due to the prominence of the University of Texas at Austin, the city is also a magnet for high tech companies like Apple, Google, and IBM, who funnel computer science graduates through their doors. Internships in Texas, in fact, may best internships in San Francisco’s Silicon Valley by offering comparable positions with lower rent.
