2026 Creative Internships in Massachusetts

Ever since the landing of the Pilgrims on Plymouth Rock in 1620, Massachusetts has had a deep-seated role in American history. Massachusetts internships have grown out of the New England colony’s roots in fishing and shipbuilding, and benefit from the state’s status as a manufacturing powerhouse through the 19th century. Today, interns in Massachusetts are likely to funnel towards high-tech research and development, finance, trade, and tourism—all major sectors in the commonwealth. The scene varies from college town to big city. Amherst, located in Hampshire County in central Massachusetts, has a university backdrop that Massachusetts interns may already be familiar with. The University of Massachusetts, Amherst College, and Hampshire College make the town a liberal stronghold with a strong research tradition. Internships in Massachusetts may also place you in the capital, Boston, a harbor city located on the eastern coast. (In fact, student internships in Massachusetts contribute billions to Boston’s economy each year!) Hosting a large college population, the city attracts major employers in biotechnology, high-tech, and finance—not to mention federal agencies, law, and government. Venturing away from the city, Massachusetts interns find natural beauty in the wind-swept dunes of the Cape Cod Peninsula. Whale watching, walking, hiking, biking, boating, golfing, shopping—all these activities and more keep summer visitors flocking to Cape Cod.
